Happy new year 2013!

Well is just matter of hours until this year ends

Here is a little gift for you and I hope for you the best and keep on!

I wish you a year full of good things and progress, the sun will rise up high in the sky all days no matter what, let's follow it's example, we fall , we are below the ground but every new day is a new chance to grow up and the space is the limit.

Keep the hard work my friends and let's master the patience!

So the way of the self taught project to become a disciplined painter and concept designer, shines at it's brightest and just time will dictate, for me, remember, all knowledge I share in my blog are not tutorials, you can pick useful stuff from my progress but avoid step on my rocks, avoid making the same mistakes I did and look for more!, I have no teacher or a partner who share this desire, so is just this personal goal I'll make it real trough hard work.


Next dictates will become more serious and I hope (I really hope, really really really hope ...) make it happens.

Perspective Review 2

Update for the perspective Review, here I just present some designs.

The perspective will be covered by it's total later, now I think I'll focus on Mastering the anatomy, so there it is, the next lecture will be about total understanding of human anatomy, stay tune!

Perspective Review

This will not be a common lecture, it will be a short review, is for getting down some of my lack of knowledge of this matter, Here I show the basic perspective types and some examples, training freehand skills! enjoy and more lectures will come soon.

Light Understanding has been completed

After 1 month of studying light, I can say I covered at least the fundamental part of light, there still is more to learn but the faith and patience will take care of that!!!! No doubt light is like the hidden thing on a work which just gives that artistic feeling, no doubt this has been the happiest and most enjoyable lecture I have ever done. Okay
Next Understand matter, will be about DESIGN ( Finally!!!!!!!!!!!)

Light (Part 4/ More Practice)

The all intention of this practice is understand, but I have to be honest, some things I have no idea how they exist, so in those parts just follow the example.
Anyway I hope I can start lighting enviroments after this, here is the practice of today!

I follow a simmilar approach as mentioned before but is kind of slow.

This time again I show the process of this painting, which took me like 6 hours, and just 1 layer of total,
well as some asked, here is the step by step.

Believe it or not this part is the hardes, took me like 30 minutes to figure out this mesh, is the most important
thing in a portait.-
 One thing I have to say is that this was a 3 point lighting portrait, is one of the hardest kind of situations for recreation, because the little contrast which seems in more hard time finding the right tones and values, which the whole point of this excercises is to recreate the light with in, is just a true challenge and make things more difficult.

And the image has been completed.
The process of portraits, needs a solid understanding of the basics of shading and the total understand of anatomy (proportions, bones, muscles) that just makes things ... like 2 % easier, so better still practicing!

Anyway, here is another quick one.

Light (Part 3/ The approach)

Some friends have asked me to see some process while painting, well here I show you my approach for it, it doesn't mean I do every paint with this way, I try to variate to find more possible solutions, but anyway, here the painting was taken from a photo again but I took more time with this one (6 hours)

Just 1 Layer (There is no neccesity of use more really)

You can see the different result and is natural, because the more time you apply in something the better it will get, no tracing were done and even sampling in the photo, at the end I color corrected the tones to match the image but that's it. Hope it clarify some questions!

Light (Part 2/Practice Painting)

All recent knowledge has been applied here, I just Used Photoshop and 1 Layer for each, and some of them took from 45 mins to 15mins until the current stage, the point here is not to make a perfect mastercopy of the matter but to understand what's going on with lighting in every situation, I didn't sample and even copy the photos, the reference material are from cool photographers on Flicker.com but I have no intention more than just extract the really important stuff of each photo.
